River Ridge Elementary School

The Kent School District’s new River Ridge Elementary School replaced the former Kent Mountain View Academy. By taking advantage of sloping topography, the classroom wings of the new school step down the site, stretching out towards the neighboring Grandview Park. As a result, this orientation provides classrooms, shared activity spaces, and the playfields with views of Mt. Rainer and the greater Kent Valley.

There are forty-two classrooms, eight flex rooms, an open-concept library, multipurpose room, and gym – which can be combined by opening a large automatic divider wall. It features a music room, stage/band room and four office spaces for support staff as well as a full front office area to accommodate up to nine staff members. It features a covered play area and two playground areas, one for grades 1-6 and one secured by decorative fencing for kindergarten and early education programs. The building capacity is set for 758 students and fifty-five staff members.
